Blue Lunas Mother-Daughter book group

Winter is a great time to spend some time indoors with a book!  I was delighted to hear from the Blue Lunas, a mother-daughter book club in St. Paul.  This neighborhood group has been gathering for two years.  They recently read and discussed  Hearts of Stone, and sent me the photo at left.  I love it!

Are you in a book group?  If you'd like to discuss one of my books, I'm happy to connect by phone.

My own historical fiction discussion group meets once a month.  I've discovered some great books this way, and it's always fun to see if other readers had the same reaction to a particular novel as I did.

I'm very excited about my new book, The Runaway Friend:  A Kirsten Mystery, from American Girl.  I met a lot of Kirsten fans years ago when I worked at Old World Wisconsin, an outdoor museum that celebrates and preserves some of Wisconsin's ethnic history.  I met the descendants of Swedish immigrants each summer when we celebrated Midsummer.  No Swedish buildings are preserved at the site, but I worked in the early Norwegian buildings.  It was fun to return to the broad topic of immigrant history in the upper Midwest.

And to celebrate, I'm going to be having some Kirsten-themed giveaways.  Be sure to check out the Contest page to learn more!

The Runaway Friend, by Kathleen Ernst

This has been quite a winter!  Here in southern Wisconsin we smashed the old record for total inches of snow in a season.  The old record was 76.1 inches.  We've topped 100!  I like winter, and although I must admit that I got tired of shoveling, it was fun to see so much wildlife in the yard.

Here's wishing you blue skies and an early spring!
